NEW AUSTRALIAN PODCASTS NOW AVAILABLE

A Plate to Call Home from Gary Mehigan
Sex & Life from Dr Nikki Goldstein

Grant Tothill, Head of Podcasting at SCA today announced two new exciting original podcasts ready to listen to from the PodcastOne app and PodcastOne website.

Announcing A Plate to Call Home with Gary Mehigan and Sex and Life with Nikki Goldstein, Grant said, “Podcasts are becoming more and more popular but there’s room for more original content podcasts made here in Australia. I’m proud to announce two new entertaining, engaging and informative podcasts to add to the PodcastOne Network.”

A Plate to Call Home

A Plate to Call Home is not a cooking podcast. Gary brings us the stories of his guests through his and their passion for food and its impact on their lives. In the first episode he talks to Tamsin who talks about leaving her corporate life to set up a farm in Gippsland, her daughter’s connection with the poultry and farm animals and setting up Tamsin’s Table. In the second episode he meets Tamil Refugees who hold regular Tamil feasts.

There will be 12 episodes in Series 1.

Sex & Life

Sexologist and relationship expert, Dr Nikki Goldstein’s Sex & Life addresses what she sees as a lack of credible and thoughtful discussion and information about sex. Looking at sex, relationships, marriage and intimacy, she seeks to answer her audience’s key questions: Am I normal? Am I doing it right?

Feeling that the podcasting medium gives her the opportunity to go places she is not able to using other media, in Sex and Life, Nikki acts as educator, wanting people to ask themselves what is it that works for them and how do they live their life.

The first episode introduces Nikki and starts her initial exploration of the two key questions. The second episode sees her take her producer Alex to a BDSM club to watch a Sunday afternoon rope tying practice session and meet a couple of regular girls who are members of the club.

There will be 12 episodes in Series 1.

Grant Tothill said “We are audio content experts, so podcasting is a natural fit for the SCA business. We are pleased that we are able to offer our clients a new way to reach their audiences. Compelling audio entertainment on demand is immersive, lean in content which offers our clients new and effective ways to reach their audiences.”

The Hit and Triple M radio networks will deliver more scale and simplicity than ever before with a new combined digital/FM radio offering.

Following SCA’s digital brand alignment of the Triple M and Hit Networks on July 1, the additional reach of SCA’s digital stations will now be automatically included in all Metro FM radio campaigns; The Hit Network’s – Buddha, Easy, Oldskool and Triple M’s Classic Rock, Greatest Hits and Modern Digital, offering buyers significant additional audience reach.

This strategy takes the number of SCA’s aligned radio stations from 78 to 84.

SCA’s Chief Sales Officer, Brian Gallagher said, “SCA has simplified access to the additional audiences that digital radio delivers. GfK is now providing digital ratings data that allows buyers to measure the commercial impact of our digital stack. Now is the time for SCA to deliver larger audiences without any further complexity and absolute clarity in delivery.”

SCA’S Chief Creative Officer, Guy Dobson said, “We are committed to expanding audiences for our leading brands in the Hit and Triple M stables. This is part of a long term strategy to improve our digital content offering, increase overall audience numbers and provide even more value across our digital and FM radionetworks.”

Brian Gallagher added, “This enhanced suite of brands will allow advertisers to easily reach aligned audiences across a diverse group of Hit and Triple M Network brands.”

This new combined digital offering is now available and will take effect on digital radio from November 6.

Hit and Triple M for Amazon Alexa

Southern%20Cross%20Austereo

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) continues to integrate its news, sport and entertainment content onto connected services as they announce from 1 February, Hit Network and Triple M flash briefings will be available for Amazon Alexa.

Listeners can now add Triple M news and sports updates, as well as news, entertainment and celebrity news from the Hit Network to their personalized flash briefing, which they can then play simply by asking “Alexa, what’s the news?” The briefings are short, on demand pieces of audio and radio’s spoken word updates which are an ideal news source for users of connected speakers

SCA’s Chief Creative Office, Guy Dobson says, “Connected home products like the Amazon Echo and other Alexa enabled devices will only become more and more popular with Australians and we will continue to lead in this space, making sure our content is easy to find from anywhere that our listeners want to find it.”

“Like radio, we will be updating our content several times a day but importantly it is always available to the listener on demand.”

At launch, briefings will be available for the major metro markets, but this may be extended to other markets in the future.

Today’s news follows SCA’s announcement in November 2017 that its Hit Network and Triple M news and sports briefings are available on the Google Assistant suite of connected speaker products including the Google Home.

Hey Google! can I please listen to Triple M

Southern%20Cross%20Austereo

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) today announced that its Hit Network and Triple M news and sports briefings are now available on the Google Assistant suite of connected speaker products including the Google Home.

Using a simple voice command listeners can now hear news and sport briefings from Triple M and news and entertainment from the Hit Network, on demand. Each briefing is updated several times a day and is spoken by SCA journalists as opposed to written text converted to speech by Google. SCA has secured a commercial partner for their news briefings on the Google Home, making them the first Australian media company to commercialise content specifically on a voice platform.

Guy Dobson, SCA’s Chief Creative Officer said, “With Amazon and Apple soon to join Google in the voice assistant market in Australia, it’s important we make sure Hit Network and Triple M content is easily accessible to this growing market.

“We’re very proud of the quality of the news our teams are creating and we’re always looking at innovative ways we can deliver our content to listeners, no matter which device or platform they use”.

SCA’S ‘HUBBLE’ THROWS OPEN ITS DOORS TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF RADIO PERSONALITIES

Following the announcement of the company’s new talent development unit, Hubble, Southern Cross Austereo today launches its new website, www.hubbletalentsearch.com, providing a gateway for the next generation of media personalities.

A first of its kind in Australia, the website will allow people from all walks of life to express their interest in a broadcast career with SCA, across the company’s radio, podcast and digital platforms.

“Entertainers often talk about how hard it can be to get a foot in the door; Hubbletalentsearch.com will make it easier to get in front of the right people, and actively pursue a career in the industry”, said Guy Dobson, Chief Content Officer.

With two new development shows on Triple M Modern Digital, and many more planned in 2018, the website comes at a great time.

“This is a new tactic for us, but we have more opportunities for talent than ever before, so we’re casting the net far and wide”, said Guy.

“Over the years, we’ve found outstanding talent in some unlikely places; this “open door” approach will help ensure we don’t miss anyone, and give us the most diverse, competitive range of talent in the industry”.

Candidates are required to fill out a basic form, outlining their experience and aspirations, and include at least one piece of content for consideration. SCA’s talent team review all submissions, and applicants of interest will be demoed accordingly.

‘We’re excited to see what our search uncovers!” said Guy.
