Nickelodeon announces 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards nominees

Nickelodeon has announced the nominees for the 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards, the only live event where kids’ votes count and the biggest stars of the day line up to get slimed. Hosted by WWE Superstar JOHN CENA, Nickelodeon’s 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards airs direct from the Los Angeles on Monday, 13th March at 5pm.

Celebrating kids’ favourites from across the worlds of film, television, sport, music and pop culture, this year’s all-star list of nominations include: BEN AFFLECK, HENRY CAVILL, CHRIS EVANS, IDRIS ELBA, MEGAN FOX, KEVIN HART, SCARLETT JOHANSSON, DWAYNE JOHNSON, ANNA KENDRICK, BRUNO MARS, MELISSA MCCARTH and more.

Be prepared for an unpredictable, celebrity-filled mess-fest, as the 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards features all new categories like “Favorite Frenemies”, “Most Wanted Pet” and “#Squad.”

From today, kids will be able to cast their votes not only for the 28 global categories, but also for five Aussie/Kiwi categories at and on Twitter using their favourite nominees’ hashtag.

The Aussie/Kiwi categories will see boy band IN STEREO take on the SOCCEROOS for Favourite Squad, while GUY SEBASTIAN and SLIMEFEST 2016 host DELTA GOODREM battle off against sporting royalty TIM CAHILL and Kiwi SHAUN JOHNSON for Favourite Human Eva! Likers and tweeters must unite to get behind their Favourite #Famous nominee as surfing favourites THE NORRIS FAMILY are up against JAI WAETFORD, dancer ASHLEIGH ROSS and more! Get ready to laugh as HAMISH & ANDY take on GRANT DENYER and REBEL WILSON to see who will take the ultimate title of Favourite Aussie/Kiwi Prankster.

While this will be JOHN CENA’S first time hosting the global show, he is beloved worldwide by the Nickelodeon family, having previously hosted the local Australian Kids’ Choice Awards in 2008, as well as undergoing a famous Nickelodeon sliming at the first UK Kids’ Choice Awards in 2007.

Nickelodeon has revealed the Australian launch of two new titles targeting kids 0-4.

• Following the global success of preschool phenomenon PAW Patrol, Nickelodeon has again partnered with Spin Master to co-produce Rusty Rivets. Rooted in the Maker Movement, Rusty Rivets encourages kids to use their imagination to design and create fun and new inventions. Rusty Rivets premieres on Nick Jr. on Monday March 13 with toys planned for release within the next year.

• Nella the Princess Knight is a brand-new animated preschool series following Nella, an unconventional 8-year-old who possesses the royal qualities of a princess such as compassion and grace, while also embodying the courage and determination of a brave knight. Nella the Princess Knight features a social-emotional curriculum promoting self-confidence, inclusiveness and compassion for others and premieres on Nick Jr. on May 1, with Consumer Products launching in 2018.

Season Five of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also launch on Nickelodeon Australia in May 2017.

Twelve-year-olds Babe and Kenzie create the most popular app of the year, Sky Whale for their science project and use the profits to start Game Shakers, a super cool gaming company in Brooklyn, NYC.


Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand has unveiled its inaugural Kids’ Choice Sports Awards 2017, a six-week celebration of sports, stars and slime across Australia and New Zealand.

During the six-week campaign, original content featuring superstar athletes will be distributed via the Nick Play app, online at, and on television, allowing kids to catch behind-the-scenes footage and stunts with their favourite sporting stars. They can also cast their votes in 11 uniquely unconventional categories to determine the winners, who will be announcing in a one-hour television special.

Unlike traditional awards, there are no rules – it’s AFL players versus cricketers versus surfers; it’s code versus code and male versus female in categories such as #Hero, Sickest Moves and Hands of Gold.

Nominees will be announced on Friday October 6 2017.

Voting opens on Friday October 6 and closes on Sunday November 12, with winners announced when Kids’ Choice Sports Awards airs on Nickelodeon and on Nick Play at 5.30pm on Monday November 20.

Beginning October 6, kids can cast their votes at before the one-hour special will premiere on Nickelodeon at 5.30 on Monday November 20.
