For the first time ever Fox Sports’ new dedicated NRL channel has out-rated the extremely popular AFL channel, Fox Footy, to be the most watched channel on subscription TV for the week, reports News Corporation.

“You’ve gotta love rugby league,” said Fox Sports CEO Patrick Delany, “and its eight games a week of unscripted drama. Spectacular action.”

“It’s little wonder the fans are so passionate, setting record audience numbers on our new Fox League 502 channel.
“Even though we’re only just coming into round seven of the competition it already feels like a vintage year.”

Fox League & Briggs Team Up To Launch Brand New Title Track 'Here’

New anthem for the NRL season

Buy or stream the track now

FOX LEAGUE has teamed up with Indigenous rapper and CEO of Bad Apples Music, BRIGGS, to create the channel’s new anthem for the 2017 NRL season, ‘Here’, featuring Caiti Baker.

The signature track is a bold tune that celebrates the game of Rugby League, and is available now through all digital platforms. The track was released ahead of next week’s Indigenous Round.

“FOX LEAGUE is a brand-new channel that’s young, fresh, and inclusive to all NRL fans. In developing the signature theme tune, we were looking to collaborate with an artist that understood what we were trying to create; a track that reflected the values of the channel, and championed every aspect of the game.

“BRIGGS was the perfect choice. After a day in the recording studio at Uncanny Valley, he and his team emerged with a track that perfectly encapsulated the attitude of the new channel,” said FOX SPORTS’ Group Creative Director, Guy Sawrey-Cookson.

“I created this track as the theme for the FOX LEAGUE channel – the song reflects the journey of the Indigenous players – who give so much excitement and leadership to the sport and community week in and week out, not just the specific Indigenous round,” said BRIGGS.

BRIGGS wrote the lyrics to the new title track and collaborated with vocalist Caiti Baker to record the song. “Here” will also be available in a new music video, directed and produced by the FOX SPORTS creative team. The cover artwork for the single was designed by Indigenous artist Reko Rennie.

The track is available now through all digital platforms and BRIGGS will also perform the song live at the Suncorp double-header as part of the NRL Indigenous Round on Saturday 13 May.

NRL360 moves to new 7.30PM timeslot

THE MATTY JOHNS PODCAST BECOMES A TV SHOW
PREMIERES WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 AT 8.30PM
LEAGUE LIFE MOVES TO TUESDAY NIGHTS AT 8.30PM

FOX LEAGUE ’s agenda-setting, hit magazine show NRL 360 will move to a new 7.30pm timeslot from Monday, May 20.

The change will allow more viewers and fans to access and watch NRL 360 , as hosts Ben Ikin and Daily Telegraph reporter Paul Kent dissect all of the big talking points, from every angle, that are impacting the game on and off the field.

Premiere episodes of NRL 360 will now air each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7.30pm on Foxtel’s FOX LEAGUE (Channel 502) with encores airing at 9.30pm and 11.30pm.

“NRL 360 more often than not sets the agenda with its opinion and latest news around the code and we consistently get feedback from fans and viewers that they struggle to get home early enough to watch the show at 6.30pm, so moving the NRL 360 to 7.30pm will allow more fans to see the show live,” FOX SPORTS Head of Television, Steve Crawley said.

As a result of NRL 360 moving timeslots, FOX LEAGUE has also announced that the hit audio podcast, The Matty Johns Podcast , will now become a television show of the same name, airing on Wednesday nights at 8.30pm from May 22.

The Matty Johns Podcast is hosted by FOX LEAGUE’s Matty Johns , who is joined by Kent and FOX LEAGUE journalist James Hooper for an hour-long chat about rugby league, with the trio telling entertaining stories, always with a touch of wit and humour, about the game they love.

LEAGUE LIFE , which previously aired on Wednesday nights, can now be seen on Tuesday nights from 8.30pm. Hosted by Yvonne Sampson , Lara Pitt , Jess Yates and Hannah Hollis , LEAGUE LIFE will continue to conduct the big interviews and reveal the most inspiring and remarkable stories in the game.

The schedule changes will also see Queenslanders Only and The Greatest take a break from their current timeslots.
