SAM SMITH RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND IN NOVEMBER FOR THE THRILL OF IT ALL WORLD TOUR 2018

On the cusp of his sold-out Sydney Opera House performance tomorrow evening, Frontier Touring are delighted to announce that Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Sam Smith will return to Australia and New Zealand on his The Thrill Of It All World Tour this November.

Taking his acclaimed sophomore album The Thrill Of It All (out now via Capitol Records/EMI Music) on the road, Smith will perform five arena shows across our fine shores in what will be his first AU & NZ tour in three years.

Upon its release last November, The Thrill Of It All debuted at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand and at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart, and has already gathered more than 2.1 million album sales worldwide.

‘The second LP from English retro-soul powerhouse Sam Smith doubles down on the magnificent, gender-nonconforming voice he showcased on his 2014 debut, In the Lonely Hour. The results knight one of the mightiest, most expressive singers of his generation.’ - Rolling Stone

‘Thank you to the gentleman who trampled Sam Smith’s heart since the last time we shared his suffering. Your loss is our gain.’ - Herald Sun

First rising to fame after featuring on Disclosure’s smash hit ‘Latch’, Smith has gone from strength-to-strength since the release of 5x Platinum (AU) debut album In The Lonely Hour (2014) and James Bond theme ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ winning an array of awards including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, three Brit Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and four Grammys, among others.

Dedicating the past few years to performing to sold-out audiences across the globe and honing his songwriting talent in the studio, Smith’s return to recorded music in late 2017 with single ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ was welcomed with open arms.

‘Smith’s magical, tragical voice is its own kind of classicism’ – Variety

‘It’s been a long wait since 2015, but if the rest of his upcoming album is as moving as this new song, it has certainly been worth it.’ - Vulture

Accompanied by an equally emotive video, the stirring ballad became Smith’s first #1 single in Australia and New Zealand and sixth in the UK.

To celebrate The Thrill Of It All’s release last November, Smith performed a collection of new and classic tracks in a world exclusive, one-off BBC 60-minute special. Backed by his own band and the BBC Concert Orchestra, tracks like ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Burning’ were given an added dimension as Smith’s vocals soared alongside the lush symphonic sounds.

The Thrill Of It All World Tour will see Smith play some of his biggest venues to date across UK, Europe and the United States before arriving in Australia and New Zealand this Spring.

Smith’s Australian and New Zealand shows have a habit of selling out at speed, with his upcoming Sydney Opera House performance selling out in just minutes. If history is anything to go by, fans are encouraged to act quickly to secure their tickets to The Thrill Of It All World Tour!

IMAGINE DRAGONS COMING TO OZ

EVOLVE WORLD TOUR
TOURING AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND – MAY 2018
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE TEMPER TRAP

They last stormed Australia and New Zealand two years ago in support of their chart-topping second album, Smoke + Mirrors. In 2017 they smashed radio worldwide with huge singles ‘Thunder’, ‘Believe’ and ‘Whatever It Takes’. Las Vegas rockers Imagine Dragons will bring their Evolve World Tour to Australia and New Zealand for Frontier Touring in May 2018, for a blazing six-date run – including their first ever show in Wellington!

Formed in 2009, Imagine Dragons – frontman Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman – have had a massive past 12 months thanks to their third album, Evolve. Released in June 2017, Evolve produced Billboard’s second longest #1 single run in the US chart’s history with ‘Believer’, also providing the band’s fourth Top 10 hit in the majestic, beat-heavy ‘Thunder’. What’s more, in 2017 Imagine Dragons were ranked the sixth most streamed band on Spotify worldwide!

In Australia, Evolve debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Charts, coming in at #3 in New Zealand. The band collaborated closely with Swedish producers Mattman & Robin (Pink, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo) and Joel Little (best known for Lorde’s Pure Heroine) on their latest listen; driving the songwriting process was a desire to strip their sound back, culminating into a collection of songs featuring killer guitars, sensitive vocals and above all, unparalleled honesty.

‘EVOLVE IS AN ‘80S FLECKED, POWER-ROCK PUMPING STATION’ – NME

‘THEIR KINETIC ENERGY IS INTOXICATING, AND FRONTMAN DAN REYNOLDS HAS AN INCREDIBLE PRESENCE AS HE HOPS UP AND DOWN…’ – THE MUSIC

‘‘THERE’S A PROPULSIVE PERCUSSIVE ELEMENT TO THEIR SET THAT GETS THE BLOOD PUMPING.’ – THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

Just recently Imagine Dragons conquered the American Music Awards, performing on stage with Khalid for ‘Young, Dumb and Broke’ and ‘Thunder’ (watch here) and taking out the trophy for ‘Favourite Pop/Rock Group’. Frontman Reynolds even used the event to show his support for LGBTQ youth.

Currently on the Evolve World Tour, the quartet intitally built their grassroots following via an independently released string of EPs, before breaking out globally with multi-platinum debut album Night Visions back in 2012. It would see them embark on their first world tour, which turned into an extensive five-year run. Night Visions marked the first of several career highlights for Imagine Dragons, the album reaching #4 on the ARIA Album Chart and becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album, thanks to smash hits including the diamond-selling ‘Radioactive’ – which took out ‘Best Rock Performance’ at the 2014 Grammys.

Imagine Dragons continued their milestone-laden run with 2015’s largely self-produced sophomore record, Smoke + Mirrors. Filled with engaging hooks, dark lyricism and industrial undertones – see third single ‘Shots’ – Smoke + Mirrors became their first #1 on the US Billboard 200. This led to a mammoth run of sold-out shows on their second world tour, including Australia and New Zealand in 2015.

Joining the band on their arena tour is special guests The Temper Trap, who return after the success of their latest album Thick As Thieves, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart and became their second album to take out the top spot. With chart-topping hits such as ‘Thick As Thieves’, ‘Lost’, ‘Fall Together’, ‘Sweet Disposition’ and ‘Need Your Love’, the band return to their home, with singer Dougy Mandagi sounding better than ever. Rumours of new music are circulating – don’t miss The Temper Trap at these epic shows!

“THE STRENGTH OF MANDAGI’S VOICE DID NOT CEASE TO AMAZE, WITH HIS HAIR-RAISING FALSETTO CUTTING THROUGH…” – SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

Backed with a collection of fresh songs, and a set sharpened from rigorous touring on this current world run, don’t miss the chance to see Imagine Dragons breathe fire into every venue they hit on their upcoming Evolve World Tour in May 2018!
