Admit you love it Mark. :P

ROFL, not seen one episode. Mind you, with Chris Bath in it, and the lack of viable alternatives, I may well watch this series. And to laugh at Dicko prancing around! :)

DICKO was once a harsh record company talent scout, became famous as an Australian Idol judge and then morphed into a reality show burgher on My Restaurant Rules.

Now it's his time to be judged, and his fate is solely in the hands of voting viewers. Yes, it's Dancing With The Stars time again.

"I'm just hoping they're as fair and honest with me as I was to Idol contestants," says the man otherwise known as Ian Dickson. "And I'm not averse to criticism or tough love from the judging panel.

"But I don't like the idea of people scoring points for the sake of it, even though I wasn't beyond the odd cheap shot. I do, however, imagine (catty judge) Todd McKenney will give me a hard time."

He could well do if he reads Dicko's following observation after three weeks of lessons with instructor Leeanne Bampton: "Ballroom dancing is the gayest thing you can do without kissing a bloke, I reckon. If anything was going to push me over the fence, it would be this. It's the clothes, the way you move, the way you hold your body - it's just decidedly gay. But I'm cool with that."

Although there have only been two series of Dancing With The Stars, the show already feels like part of the television fabric.

And not just here. The BBC format has boomed wherever it has aired, from the UK to Russia and the US, 11 countries in all.

Viewers love it and so do profile-hungry celebrities. And this time around, in many cases, it was the stars who approached producers.

There's huge potential for maximum embarrassment. But also the chance for the inner ballroom star to shine, presenting totally different sides of well-known figures.

Just ask John Wood, Pauline Hanson and Derryn Hinch, the ducklings-turned swans of the first two series.

This year it could be Dicko or it might be Michael Caton, who will twirl with Kym Johnson, partner and now girlfriend of last series winner Tom Williams.

But insiders are tipping Seven newsreader Chris Bath, who for 10 years has been a serious face only ever seen from the waist up on various bulletins.

"I'm in pain, but I'm good," she says from the dance studio frontline. "It was my backside for the first two weeks and now it's my back - it's a very unnatural way of moving, and as I slouch and have bad posture, I'm using back muscles I never have before."

Those words might just be tactical ones, for Bath studied ballet for four years as a teenager. Yet she was the only one who had to be convinced she could do the show without sending viewers into hysterics.

"At first I thought, 'How do you marry dancing with newsreading?', because you don't have legs when you read news and you're serious," says the mum of a toddler.

"But I thought, 'I'm 38 and not ready to lay down and die just yet'. And it's about time I did something new after being in a nice comfortable news reading rut for 10 years."

Known as a bit of a sparky lark around the newsroom, that side might just emerge, despite Bath's trepidation.

"The waltz kills me because you have to be elegant and I'm not elegant," she says. "The rhumba kills me because you have to be sexy, and I don't do sexy either. And I also have personal space issues with both of them.

"My grandmother is excited to see me on TV in a frock and not the same old dark suit, but what Nanna hasn't banked on is that I'm going to be rubbing up against a strange man, which is quite confronting. And yesterday he (Trenton Shipley) started teaching me the tango . . . But I'm just not your flesh-exposing Madonna kind of girl."

We'll see, says Sonia Kruger, who again hosts the show with Daryl Somers. "Chris is the dark horse," she says. "Every group has been so different. Pauline Hanson in the first series was hilarious, then Tom Williams in the second became the hotty and this time we're wondering who will shine, who's going to be the comedian and who's going to grab the public's attention."

Experience has shown sheer terror, combined with intense nerves, precedes the first episode. The stars have done six weeks training but fear they'll fall flat on their faces.

"They forget the earlier contestants were the same at the beginning," Kruger says. "It's an amazing J curve of learning they go through, feeling useless. "But once it starts, they get out there, get through it and their confidence grows."

Dancing with the stars celebrity include:-

Chris Bath, David Campbell, Nicky Buckley, Michael Caton, Dawn Fraser, Ian “Dicko” Dickson, Ada Nicodemou, Brodie Holland, Tania Zaetta, and Ky Hurst.

Yay another series of DWTS. What a thrill, might watch it this time see if Ian "Dicko" Dickson makes the mark or if he make a complete bum of himself,
and there is nothing else on at that time, And to see how "Dicko" likes to be judged instead of been the judge (Aus Idol).

Bollywood queen and former action girl Tania Zaetta says she is disappointed to be the first contestant booted off the third series of TV's Dancing with the Stars.

But the 33-year-old, who moved to India three years ago to pursue a film career, says she is pleased she "went out with a bang".

Zaetta and partner Michael Miziner last night became the first couple to be eliminated from the Seven Network show after failing to impress judges with their quickstep.

"I think at any point you go it's disappointing because everyone would like to make it all the way through," Zaetta said today of the episode, which was the most watched show of the night.

"But at the end of the day I figure if you're going to get voted off people will remember the first one who went out with a bang."

The actor, who started off on Australian action show Who Dares Wins, is the toast of the Indian film industry and now making her second Bollywood movie.

She said performing on the show had been hard when she had other work commitments and when the program was so competitive.

"People think that I'm a very competitive person and maybe when it comes to my work I am," she said.

"But when it comes to things like dancing or even a tennis match I'm not."

The star, originally from Melbourne, has been at home making her second Bollywood movie, Salaam Namaste, for the past few months.

The film will be released at cinemas worldwide on Friday.

Zaetta said although she planned to make more Bollywood movies, she wanted to stick around in Australia a "little bit longer".

"I've kind of got my heart set on moving home or at least moving my base back home," Zaetta said.

"It's been my game plan for a very long time."

She said she would like to spend half her time in India making films and also pursue television and radio jobs in Australia.

according to the rules the last contestant put out is automattically recalled if another contestant withdraws fromn the contest Brodie has been told by Collingwood (Eddie Everywhere) that he is required to attend the training camp with the rest of the team and must withdraw from the show Apparently c7 is waiting for confirmation of the rules from Thames television before announcing. 11.01am

What dickhead at 7 picked an AFL star, from the team who's President is a major figurehead of their main competitor, knowing that pre-season would start before the show finished ?

Noel

on the radio this morning that 7 have instead recorded 5 sessions of brodie dancing and will use them each week instead of them performing live
isnt that unfair to the other contestants?

ALREADY there's some serious speculation about the who's who for next year's series of Dancing with the Stars.

We don't expect anything from the Seven network for at least four weeks, but one very strong tip to trip the light fantastic is Nova's Kate Langbroek.

The way we hear it, she's been approached and said yes, then packed herself off to a NSW health farm for a crash fitness course, so she can toss her partner around with the best of them.

Mark Latham's name also keeps cropping up, but the stormy former Labor leader was a suggestion for the last series too and that never came off.

Keeping up the successful link with footballers looks like a continuing theme for Dancing with the Stars, and Hawthorn defender Trent Croad has been mentioned in dispatches.

So has Australia's luckiest model, Antz Pantz girl recently repatriated from Bali, Michelle Leslie.

FORMER Labor leader Mark Latham and convicted drug felon Michelle Leslie are among the names rumoured to have signed up for this year's Dancing With The Stars series.

Others reportedly dusting off their dancing shoes for Seven's hit show include boxer Kostya Tszyu, former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, Nova radio personality Kate Langbroek and Human Nature band member Toby Allen.

The program's successful link with footballers is also set to continue, with Hawthorn defender Trent Croad and former Sydney Roosters captain Luke Ricketson understood to be in the starting line-up.

A Channel Seven spokesman said an announcement would be made within the next four weeks.

"I know there's been a lot of speculation about who will be appearing next season but we won't be confirming any names until the end of January," he said.

The spokesman did say host Daryl Somers would return, adding: "We're very pleased to have Daryl opening the show again."

Dancing With The Stars is expected to air after coverage of the Australian Open tennis concludes in early February. As with the previous series, Seven will be hoping it can provide a major ratings boost amid its ongoing battle with the Nine Network.

EXPECT some fireworks when Kate Langbroek and Todd McKenney come face to face on the next series of Dancing With The Stars.

The former female face on The Panel, Langbroek has signed on as a contestant in the Channel 7 show after previously knocking back offers to hit the dance floor.

And she has admitted she has an axe to grind when it comes to the controversial judge McKenney.

"I don't like Todd at all and I don't think Todd likes me either," she said.

"I've never forgiven him for giving Nikki Webster a one in his hissy fit of spite."

The Melbourne radio host said she had already chatted with two of the other series four contestants, catching up with Simone Warne and running into Molly Meldrum at a Thai resort recently.
