Peter Berg, director of Friday Night Lights and The Rundown, has been snapped up by Paramount Pictures to direct a movie based on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell video games. In addition to directing the military action picture, Berg is also co-writing the screenplay with John J. McLaughlin and one of the writers of the video games, J.T. Petty.
Splinter Cell has proven to be a popular stealth action game for its publisher, Ubi Soft. Released on Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube, players take on the role of covert spy Sam Fisher as he infiltrates terrorist cells to keep the world safe from harm. An important part of the game is keeping your presence revealed while sneaking around inside enemy bases. Paramount has already said that it wants to include the game's stealth angle in the film.
