Hey guys. Anyone know how to solve interference with Digital TV from the likes of lightning or power tools being used close by?

Am I right in thinking that it's a power interference issue rather than with the reception (antenna)? And would something like a line conditioner help with it?

Or will I just have to shut up and suck it up?

Thanks! :)

it's impulse noise interference, make sure there is no band 1 (VHF 0 - 2) or band 2 (VHF 3 - 5A) antenna installed, make sure all coax cabling is RG6 Quadshield minimum, make sure that any splitters, amps, and outlets (internal only) use F-connectors, make sure that Coax Cable doesn't go within 1m of power cables, if they must cross, do so at right angles.

If this doesn't help to solve it, an antenna technician will be required to do things like relocate antennas, replace antennas install filtering (if required), etc.

You can also try buying a power filter for the powerpoint that the power supply for the amp connects to to filter out spikes in voltage and other power problems that can come from power tools.

Thanks digitalj. Yeah I'm pretty sure the antenna is right, and I've put all rg6 cable in with the f-type connections as well as the amp. I think your comment about not within 1m of power cables has hit the nail. I think in the lounge the cable goes right near the power there, so that must be the prob? The power outlet and antenna outlet are not situated ideally though, but will have to work around it.

Thanks for the info mate :)
