World Cup of Nations A1 Grand Prix will race on the streets of Gold Coast to replace the Indy Racing League, after the Queensland Goverment and IRL could not agree on a race date for next year and onwards.
The A1 will move from Eastern Creek to the Gold Coast and already reports from London that A1 is in trouble with money problems.
The race will be shared with V8's Series, rumour has it that other international Motorsport where interested including the DTM's.

I never missed a CART/IRL Race since it started back in 1991, So it's a shame that we lost it.
You think they (Queensland Goverment and IRL) will have it as another one off race till the IRL got everything sorted after buying out CART.
I don't mind the A1GP but after watching Eastern Creek race on tv the crowd were getting less and less every year.
And people that don't get Pay TV and don't watch late night highlights on 9/Win tv, They will be saying "A1 Who"

.

Actually it should say that the A1s are coming back to Australia (as opposed to moving from Eastern Creek). There is no race in Australia this season.

Should be interesting to see what happens with TV coverage. Doesn't Channel 9 have A1 rights?

Nine only has the rights to delayed coverage (might be only highlights) of the A1 atm.

Fox Sports has live rights to the A1GP - so there is some chance they might be part of the picture, but most likely Seven will show it as part of their V8 Supercar rights.

DTMS would be fantastic, and maybe a round of the BTCC. it would be a great way to show off Australia to world. and we would have some great racing with those euro racers.

I quite enjoyed going to see the A1 series at Eastern Creek. But in terms of motor racing, I miss the old Group C, Group A days when there were many marquees all racing each other. I do enjoy watching Bathurst, but for me, the Supercars reeks too much of NASCAR on non-oval tracks.

I loved the years of Bathurst with the Sierras, Skylines, Bluebirds, Corollas, RX7 etc. I know we get "close" racing with the V8 Supercars, but it feels just like racing for redneck, limited intelligence Americans from below the Mason Dixon line!!!

(Stepping down from soapbox now)

I agree I used to watch lots of motor racing back in the late 70's and eighties seeing Falcons Monaros Toranas Chargers Minis Kingswoods Jags and the list goes on was great but now its more of which shell goes best.
